Relieve jaw pain with TMJ/TMD therapy

When someone has jaw pain, difficulty chewing food or strange pops and clicks coming from their jaw, they likely have a problem with their temporomandibular joint (TMJ). The condition is known as TMD, or temporomandibular disorder, though most people call it TMJ.

At The Center for Advanced Dental Care, we have had a good deal of experience treating TMJ symptoms and relieving the discomfort of TMD. Our TMJ/TMD therapy program includes a careful assessment of your condition, your symptoms and the extent of your problem.

Many options for TMD therapy

Our program uses special appliances, called splints or night guards, to gently reposition your jaw and relieve any pressure on the joint while you sleep. These appliances also prevent you from clenching or grinding your teeth in your sleep, which sometimes causes TMD. While night guards are only worn at night, splints can be worn all the time. Dr. Kaplan will explain your appliance options to help you find the best one for your needs.

We may also recommend special exercises, anti-inflammatory medications and corrective dental treatments that may include replacing missing teeth or using crowns and bridges to balance your teeth and correct bite problems. Don’t live with the discomfort of TMD another minute.

Call The Center for Advanced Dental Care at 617.964.3430 today and find out how night guards and replacing missing teeth can help your TMJ condition. For your convenience, you can also use our online form to schedule an appointment. Our TMJ patients come to us from Wellesley, Boston, Newton Centre, Cambridge, Brookline, Newton and nearby communities.
